"Bytown Museum" - Ottawa

Presiding over the majestic Rideau Canal Locks, the Bytown Museum sits proudly along the banks of the Ottawa River. Ottawa's oldest remaining stone building, known as the Commissariat Building, has housed the museum since 1917. Originally used as a commercial depot integral to the building of the Rideau Canal, now the Bytown museum presents an impressive collection of artefacts that explore the origins of present day Ottawa. The shadowy corners and bizarre occurrences make the Bytown museum a hot spot for history buffs and ghost hunters alike. In addition to the sound of footsteps in empty rooms, museum workers have found their meticulously arranged displays destroyed overnight - artefacts thrown about by unseen hands. One visitor to the museum even claims to have heard a child's disembodied laughter coming from the doll exhibit. Some believe the museum contains the spirits of the countless souls who died building the canal.
