About The Artist

The Ghost of Kat

Originally from Montréal, artist Kat Jetté has spent the majority of her life living and working in the city of Ottawa. Kat has always held a fascination with places and spaces that are a bit out of the ordinary: those that are abandoned, historical or downright creepy. While earning her Honours degree in Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa, Kat focused her studies on painting and drawing. Kat went on to study photography at Algonquin College.

For for over a decade, Kat concentrated on large-scale paintings that were defined by bold color choices and dynamic, gestural marks. During the isolation period starting in 2020, Kat turned her attention back to drawing. Having been inspired by the works of Edward Gorey and M.C. Escher, she now mainly creates highly detailed ink drawings using traditional inking techniques. Kat employs her own sense of style and humour to communicate the unsettling and charming nature of haunting spaces.
